In April, President’s Circle members of the Associates were given the opportunity to tour the Palomar Observatory with Michael Brown, the Richard and Barbara Rosenberg Professor and professor of planetary astronomy. A group of 40 were treated to a wonderful lunch at the South Coast Winery in Temecula before heading to the observatory. Once at the observatory the group was given a tour, dined under the dome of the 200-inch telescope, listened to a lecture by Dr. Brown on “How Palomar Killed Pluto”, and then looked through the 60-inch telescope to view Saturn.  It was truly a trip to remember!
