Associates and Office of Gift Planning Program: Dare Mighty Things, Jet Propulsion Laboratory Tour

with Kenneth Farley, Mars 2020’s project scientist and Caltech’s W.M. Keck Foundation Professor of Geochemistry

Location: Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 4800 Oak Grove Dr., Pasadena 91109 and Caltech campus

9:00 a.m. Private tour of the Jet Propulsion LaboratoryJPL Tour
12:30 p.m. Luncheon, presentation, and other activities at the Caltech campus

We are excited to host this private tour of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), luncheon, and presentation with the Office of Gift Planning.

Start your day off experiencing the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), home to some of the world's greatest interplanetary science, and explore Mission Control Center where flights and missions are monitored from launch to landing. As the JPL's motto suggests, space enthusiasts will "dare mighty things" as they get a first-hand look at what's new for the future of space travel and exploration!

Hear from Kenneth Farley, Mars 2020's project scientist and Caltech's W.M. Keck Foundation Professor of Geochemistry, as he shares insights into Mars 2020, NASA's next Mars rover mission. While the Martian surface is currently inhospitable to life, early in its history the planet hosted rivers and lakes that indicate the planet was once warmer and wetter than today. Mars 2020 will explore an ancient environment conducive to life using its on-board scientific instruments, and will prepare samples that may be returned to Earth by a possible future mission. If returned, these samples would for the first time seriously challenge the scientific community with the question of how to search for alien life.

JPL tour recommended for guests third grade age level and up. Limit four tickets per Associates membership.
